As color  and pattern variations realized with Grizzle Genotypes are quite extensive we
have found it necessary to assign suitable names to assist with recorded data.
Please note that unless specified by A.A.R.O - assignations are not to be taken as

International Fair of Racing Pigeons
EXPOPigeons
29-31 of January 2010
The exhibitors from two previous editions of International Fair of Racing Pigeons
have declared their presence during the next edition of this superb and popular event.

The last EXPOPigeons Fair (January 2009) in Expo Silesia attracted more than 20
thousand visitors, who had the possibility to admire 1200 most beautiful birds from six
European countries: Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Ukraine and Norway.
The third edition of the Fair will be held simultaneously with European Exhibition of
Racing Pigeons, during which the most beautiful pigeons from all European countries
will be presented. It is going to be a big festival of both admirers and pigeon breeders!
Therefore we invite you to participate in this event, which is continually developing
and expanding, both in respect of number of exhibitors and visitors. We are waiting
for your application.
The exhibitors’ views on the second edition of  EXPOPigeons Fair:
S³awomir Pniewski, veterinary surgeon and „ZOOWET” company owner:
I represent „ZOOWET”, a company directly related to veterinary services which are a participant
of all respected exhibitions and trade fairs of racing pigeons and decorative poultry in country
and abroad. With full responsibility I confirm that the Exhibition of Racing pigeons in EXPO Silesia
exhibition centre are an indisputable country leader. The level of organization was very high and
definitely outclassed the other events of this type. The large number of exhibitors and impressive
amount of visitors – interested breeders – gave exceptional promotion opportunities for companies
and products offered by the companies. It was a great festival for everybody related to the breeders’
hobby (...) Generally speaking, my opinion and the opinions of other friendly companies is very
positive. We are all waiting for the next fair in Expo Silesia exhibition centre in 2010 and we expect
equally perfect organization, good atmosphere and maybe even more visitors and guests.
Cezary Wójtowicz
The EXPOPigeons 2009 Fair was the first fair during which my company was present as an
exhibitor and I consider this debut as very successful. The stand was made in accordance to the
project created with the organizer of this fair. During the fair we had decided to equip our stand
with a glass case which was immediately delivered to the stand. The glass case turned out to be a
bang on” for our equipment exhibition. The organizer’s flexibility is incredible when we take the
amount of visitors into consideration. The number and support of security services was highly
appreciated and gave the sense of safety and comfort.
Moscow Hosts International Pigeon Exhibition
An International pigeon exhibition opened at the Sokolniki expo centre here today, RIA Novosti
learned at the Russky Tumbler pigeon lover’s society.
The current exhibition involves pigeon breeders from 32 Russian regions, as well as those from
Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Baltic’s and Greece. More than 2,000 pigeon breeds are being
displayed; their list includes about 600 elite breeds, such as Russia's black piebald and red piebald
ribbon tumbler, Orel and Tula pigeons, as well as the Russian seagull. Pigeon lovers will be able to
admire grey tumblers, which had vanished during the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic war, and whose
population was restored not so long ago by a group of Moscow enthusiasts.
Pigeons were treated as sacred birds since times immemorial; among other things, they were bred
for sacrificial purposes. Pigeons were first mentioned in Schumer cuneiform tablets circa 4,500 B. C.
Priests in Babylon and Assyria considered pigeons to be the symbol and mundane incarnation of love
goddess Astarte. Egypt, Judea, as well as Greece and Rome, also believed them to be holy birds,
which symbolized love gods and goddesses. Christianity inherited this tradition, saying that pigeons
symbolized the Holy Spirit, as well as God's love toward Man.
The people of Russia have been breeding pigeons ever since the tenth century, to say the least.
Russian pigeon-breeders offer quite a few unique breeds. According to experts, the world has more
than 800 pigeon breeds, decorative breeds, for the most part. For their own part, Russian experts
breed approximately 200 pigeon varieties; many of them live in Russia alone.
The owners of prize birds will get cups, diplomas and medals. Meanwhile an absolute pigeon-breed
champion will receive the best-pigeon title. Urs Freiburghaus, president of the European pigeon
breeders' union, Jean-Louis Frindel, vice-president of the French pigeon-breeders' association, and
other guests will attend this two-day exhibition.

Rzhev Startailed Turmani

The Rzhevski Startailed Turmani : Gem of the Russia's

By K. D. Spur ling (1998)

Perhaps of Russia's over 170 races of Domestic Pigeons, the Rzhev Startailed Turmans are the
best known and most popular throughout the world. With enthusiastic breeders in Russia, Poland,
Romania, Germany, Holland, Britain and the United States; it is easily one of the most famous of
rare varieties. The Rzhev Startail is named for the city of Rzhev, which is located approximately
75 miles north of Moscow. Together with Kaluga and Tula, they form a semi circle around Moscow;
and it is here in these four cities that exist the very heartland of Turman culture in the world.
It is said that the first Turmans actually came to Moscow as the spoils of defeated Turkish held
cities in the Ukraine during the reign of Princess Olga of Moscow. (About 940 AD.).
This original ancestor is said to have been obtained by the Turks in what is today Afghanistan and
they are generally referred to as "Turmani Afghan". Likely, this original breed has become extinct as
it has not yet been located in Afghanistan, Turkey or other parts of the Middle East and because of
this, we have no genuine proof that the original birds came from any part of the Middle East regions.
The Rzhev Startail's are vivid and delicate pigeons of a shy temperament, about the size of a
Birmingham Roller. The head is nearly square in shape with rounded edges and a high and steeply
rising frontal. The birds may be plain headed, but lesser known are the shell crested specimens as
seen in the accompanying figure which was reproduced from Russian literature. The cere is fine
and pale in color, surrounding large expressive bull eyes. The beak is blunt, medium short in length
and set somewhat down-faced. The neck is of medium length and tapers towards the shoulders and
flows into the long, sweeping back. The tail is long and slightly fanned, consisting of 12 to 14
rectrices, and slightly elevated. The wings are carried below the tail, but must not touch the floor.
The toes are short and thick and always free of plumage.

Historically, the Rzhev Startail's come in Red and Yellow. However, in the Russian way of thinking,
this is not correct. In Russia, only the reds would be considered Rzhev Turmani. This is easily proven
just by translating the Russian name: "Rzhevski Krasno Pegije Turmani' (Rzhev Red Pegije Turman).
Yellow birds of this style do exist, but in Russia these birds are known as "Morshanski Schulto Pegije
Turmani" (Morshank Yellow) and are considered a separate, but closely allied breed. The red should
be as shiny and brilliant as possible, and among all races of pigeons no other red pigeon can equal
the color quality of an excellent Turman. Some Turmans maintain such rich, even and out-right
awesome red plumage that in photos or from a short distance they may appear black. The type of red
plumage the Turmans have is a refined Ash Red with Lebanon Bronzing.

Evolutionary Theory of an Avian Species
                        By Manny Arquette
I am overly certain that the opinionated revelations expressed with regards Columba livia’s
evolutionary ontogeny will give cause to prolonged and heated debate and also resultant of
a global outcry of monumental indifference - by those avian experts whom choose to stick
their heads in the sand and sadly continue to analyse the facts with clouded vision and judgement.
I only ask the viewer to observe the documented facts, in conjunction with photographic
evidence that is readily available on this site for comparative analysis.

Wisdom may only be achieved by those who look beyond accepted theoritical principles
and apply logical reasoning in accordance with scientific observation and database
affirmations. I have for some time believed that the accepted genetic principles to the long
held view : that there are only ‘Three Color Varieties of Pigeons’ - does not hold water!

This is not to say the genetics researchers gone before were erroneously misleading in their
postulated declarations, but that they were not privy to all the factual considerations  which
were and are essential towards investigating and understanding the many confronting and
confounding complexities that make up Columbia livia, as we know the species today.

I am positive that had avian scientific researchers  of the time ready access to the technological
advancements of today - DNA Sequencing and Blood Type Sampling procedures - their theoretical
declarations would have been far removed from those, for so long now, accepted as Gospel!
The warning bells should have sounded loud and clear  for researchers, when the Bronze Genotype
was first appraised, and if one were to reflect  upon and review all documentation that exists today, it
would soon become glaringly apparant that not one researcher displays and exhibits with any
confidence a detailed conveyance with regards the Genetic Make-up of the Bronze/Kite Genome!
Which begs the question - Why Not?
I have for some time  realized and held the view that the Bronze Variety is far and away removed
from the three colors principle of : Ash Red, Blue/Black and Brown. Bronze is undeniably
independant from these designated Genotypes and scientific DNA evaluation will promptly and
decisively attest to this.
Alas! For we now have another Dominant Genotpe  to the fore: The Slate Variety. The photographs
posted on this site, clearly show -  Spread-Slate is not of a Blue/Black Constitution, and records will
reveal the validity of our declarations are factual - all photography is untouched and presented from
camera to Website page - and what you see is what you get folks!

The ‘Holy Grail’ of Pigeons
Photo taken:Dec.31, 2009
        Proof-Positive Photos
in support of Evolutionary Theory
The photos exhibited were taken on Dec. 31, 2009.
The saying: ‘Seeing is Believing’ is very apt in this instance and the selected photographs
should demonstrate to hobbyists worldwide the authenticity of my claim and declaration, to
be read and evaluated in the above text. I have no qualms in stating that the Mutative
Spread-Slate Genotype is globaly unique and ‘one-of-a-kind’ - and the long awaited
‘Missing Link ‘ that will finally validate - A.A.R.O’s well researched findings: There is no
substance to the claims that only ‘Three-Specific-Colors’  make up the Gentic Constitution
of Columbidae
‘Wild-Type’ is used as a comparative, and the specimens are of an equal age and maturity
to exhibit color and pattern for analytical purposes. A progeny of the Spread-Slate
is also exhibited to show viewers the mating-results of Spread-Slate x Dominant Opal.
I can only trust that scientific minded hobbyist viewers , analyse the facts and decide for
themselves wherein lies the truth
